Good morning all!

I received this question at our library and have directed the patron to the state library while I search for information. I thought I’d share it with you to see if you have any ideas. *I do think Pinhurst is Pinehurst and it was probably just a typo.

From the patron:

I am doing research on a school that operated in St Johns County in the early 1900's. It opened in October, 1900 and was called Pinhurst Collegiate Seminary. It was private, and was run by the Anhorn family. It was located, I believe, in a town called Switzerland. I am interested in any information on the school, however, I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with:

1. Did the county school system have anything to do with the school, or was it 100% private?
2. When did the school close?
3. Are there any surviving records - student or otherwise?
4. We're there any complaints made about the school to officials?

I have been in touch with the St Johns Co school board, and their records do not go back that far. I have also contacted the SJC genealogy organization, and the historical society, and so far they have not been able to help.
